The Romans Road

The Road Block
  •  Romans 3:23- “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

  • Imagine you are in a car. You are driving along, doing your own thing when all of a sudden you come upon a road block. Something is keeping you from going further.
  • In life there is a road block keeping you from God. It’s called sin, and every human has sin within them. God is holy and pure and cannot be associated with sin. This means that no human can be in the presence of his Creator.
3
The Result
  • Romans 6:23a- “For the wages of sin is death;”
  • Now imagine that you are stuck on this road with nowhere to go. You have no food, no water, and no way to get past this road block on your own. Unless someone saves you, you will eventually die!
  • This is similar to a person’s spiritual life. We as humans are separated from God by sin. We cannot get past our sinful nature on our own. Someone who is perfect has to save us from our sin or we will spend eternity in hell

4
The Redeemer
  • Romans 6:23b-“but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
  • God knew that we as sinful beings would not be able to save ourselves from eternal death, but He loved us so much that He chose to provide a way that we could be saved. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be a ransom for our sins. Willingly and lovingly Christ died for us so that we could be once again united with our heavenly Father.
5
The Recognition
  • Romans 10:9- “that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
  • Not only did God provide a way that we could be saved but He made it so that our salvation is FREE! We don’t have to work it off or pay for it. All we must do is recognize that we are sinners and simply accept God’s gift of salvation, believing in our heart that He is alive today.

6
The Relationship
  • Romans 5:1- “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”
  • Because Jesus took our sin, He became a mediator between God the Father and man, and through Christ we are able to have a relationship of peace with God. Once we ask Christ to come into our heart and forgive us of our sin, He will no longer condemn us for our past life (Romans 8:1).
7
"Nothing can separate us from..."
  • Nothing can separate us from God once we have been saved. He will never reject us or turn us away from His love (Romans 8:38-39). We become His, for we were bought with a price. Salvation and the relationship that comes with it is eternal!

8
The Race
  • I Corinthians 9:24- “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.”
  • When you choose to become a Christians you are choosing a life similar to running a race. You will have your ups and downs, and at some point you will get tired and want to give up, but know that you do not have to run this race alone. You have Christ on your side and He will get you through the difficult trials you will face. Run with your eyes fixed on the finish line. Your prize is not here on earth but in Heaven, so live your life with a desire to win the incorruptible crown!

"Would you like to follow..."
  • Would you like to follow the Romans road to salvation? If so, here is a simple prayer you can pray to God. Saying this prayer is a way to declare to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ for your salvation. The words themselves will not save you. Only faith in Jesus Christ can provide salvation!
10
"“God"
  • “God, I know that I have sinned against you an am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. With your help, I turn away from my sin and place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness- the gift of eternal life! Amen!”
